Replit

Replit is an AI app builder in the browser: its Agent plans, builds, tests and hosts web and mobile apps, and the code, a database and a terminal sit in the same workspace.

It suits founders who want an agent to do the building but the code within reach, including a Python backend or a job that runs on a schedule.

The free Starter plan has a daily Agent allowance and one published app; Core is $20 a month with $20 of credits, and use past the credits is billed as you go, as checked on 30 October 2026.

Our take
Founders who want an agent to build and host the whole app, with the code close by. Replit's Agent plans, builds and tests it, and when you want to step in, the code, a terminal and the database are in the same workspace.
Pricing
FreemiumMid priceFree on the Starter plan: a daily Agent allowance and one published app, which goes offline after 30 days and carries a "Made with Replit" badge. Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, with $20 of monthly credits and a Free Mode allowance that refreshes every five hours; Pro starts at $100 a month for $100 of credits and runs to $2,050 a month for $2,500, as checked on 30 October 2026. The credits pay for Agent work in Power and Max modes, hosting and the database. Past them, use is billed as you go, priced by how much work each request takes, and a budget in Settings sets a hard cap. Core credits do not roll over; Pro credits roll over for two months.

The IndieHacked breakdown

What it does

You describe an app and Replit's Agent writes the code, sets up the infrastructure and tests the result, saving a checkpoint you can roll back to. Plan mode lets it work out a task list with you before it touches any code. Free Mode handles everyday requests within your plan's allowance; Power and Max modes use stronger models and spend credits, and Replit asks before a paid action starts.

One project can hold a web app, a mobile app, slides and more, sharing one backend. Each app gets a development database and a production one the Agent cannot change, and publishing covers a replit.app address or your own domain, private access and a security scan before it goes live. Mobile apps run in an iOS Simulator or Android Emulator in the browser, and Replit's Launch flow builds, signs and uploads them to App Store Connect.

Who it suits

Founders who want the agent to do the building but the code within reach. A Replit project is a Linux container with an editor, a terminal and package managers such as npm and pip, and Replit says it supports more than 50 languages and frameworks, so a Python backend or a script that runs on a schedule fits as well as a web app.

It also fits a small team. Core takes up to 5 builders and Pro up to 15, each starting their own Agent threads on the same project, and connectors on paid plans link Stripe, Google Workspace, Slack and Notion. Replit can import a project from GitHub, Lovable, Bolt or Vercel to keep building it there.

Not the right fit for

Founders who want to change the app by hand without reading code. Replit's Visual Editor adjusts content and layout, but logic changes go through the Agent or the code itself. Bubble, reviewed here, keeps the database and the workflows in a visual editor as well.

Founders who need a flat monthly bill, or an Android app in Google Play. Paid Agent work, hosting and the database draw on your credits and then bill by use, so a heavy month costs more, and Replit's docs say publishing to Google Play is not yet supported. Draftbit and Bubble, reviewed here, publish to both stores.
