The IndieHacked breakdown
What it does
Carrd builds one-page sites. You start from a template or a blank page, place elements on a single responsive page, and use sections to split it into regions you link between, which can stand in for separate pages. Free sites publish on a carrd.co address with the Made with Carrd footer.
Pro Standard publishes to your own domain with SSL from Let's Encrypt and adds contact forms, signup forms for email tools such as Mailchimp, Kit, Loops and beehiiv, embeds of your own code and widgets from Stripe, PayPal or Gumroad. Pro Plus adds custom forms that send data to Zapier, Make, n8n or Airtable and take payments through Stripe Checkout, plus redirects, password protection and a download of each site's HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Who it suits
Founders who need a page up before the product is: a waitlist, a launch page, a one-page site for a side project. A page that collects signups on your own domain costs $19 a year on Pro Standard, and a 7-day trial of the Pro features needs no card.
It also fits a founder who runs several small projects. Pro Standard covers 10 sites on one account and Pro Plus 25, so each new idea gets its own page without a new subscription, and Pro Standard includes Carrd's own analytics, which set no cookies.
Not the right fit for
Founders who need a site with many pages, a blog or a CMS. Carrd builds one page per site, with sections standing in for pages; Framer and Webflow, reviewed here, both run a CMS for posts and collections.
Founders who need the product itself, with accounts, a database or an app behind the page. Carrd's forms and payment widgets stop at the page; Lovable, reviewed here, builds a full web app from a description.
