Copy check

The copy check reads your site's pages and flags the lines that sound written by a model: the em dashes, the stock words, the empty claims and the moves a pattern can't catch.

Use it before a launch or after an AI tool wrote your landing page.

Each finding quotes the line and suggests a rewrite that keeps its facts.

Built by the IndieHacked team

The check reads this page and up to 3 more it links to.

Demo mode: any address shows a sample result for an invented site. Nothing is fetched or sent.

Enter an address and run the check. The score and what to fix show here.

How the check works

What it reads

The check reads your page and up to 3 more on the same site that your page links to, pricing and features first. It reads them as a visitor sees them, after JavaScript, through Firecrawl.

What our code counts

Em dashes, exclamation marks, the words that mark generated copy (seamless, leverage, unlock, robust and the like), stock frames such as "not just X, but Y" and "whether you're X or Y", and claims a reader can't check, such as "the best" or "trusted by thousands" with no names.

What Claude reads for

The moves a pattern can't judge: a rule of three used as a tic, a sentence that announces its point before making it, copy that describes the page instead of the product, and lines generic enough to fit any competitor. Each comes back with the sentence quoted and a rewrite that keeps its facts.

How it scores

Four topics out of 100, averaged: punctuation, vocabulary, rhetorical moves and claims. A few hits are normal in honest copy, so one tell is something to improve, not a fail. The score says how much of the copy reads as written by a person, not whether a detector would flag it.

Questions founders ask

Is this an AI detector?

No. Detectors give a probability and don't show their method, and they flag honest writing too. The check points at specific lines and says what makes each one read as generated, so you can decide what to change.

Will the rewrites change what my site says?

They shouldn't. Every rewrite keeps the facts of the line it replaces, and the fix prompt tells your coding agent to change only the lines listed. Read each one before you accept it.

What does the fix prompt do?

It turns the findings into instructions for your coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Lovable or Bolt), written for what your site is built with when the check can tell. Paste it in, review the changes, then run the check again. Fix prompts are part of Plus, free with Weekly Unpack: subscribe with your account's address and every prompt opens.

Why do I need an account to run a check?

Each check reads a live site and asks Claude to write the verdict, which costs money every time. An account lets us keep it free with a daily limit of 10 checks, and keeps your past runs so you can compare a new score with the last one.

What happens to the address and the results?

We store the address, the score, the findings and the verdict with your account so you can see them again. The page's text goes to Anthropic, which runs Claude, to write the verdict and the prompt; the copy check also sends the address to Firecrawl to read the page as a visitor sees it. Runs are deleted after 12 months, or with your account.
