Zapier
Zapier is a no-code automation tool that connects 9,000+ apps: when something happens in one, such as a new signup or a paid invoice, a Zap does the follow-up steps in the others, and Zapier's AI agents, chatbots and MCP server work through the same connections.
It suits founders who want their tools working together the same day, without code or a developer.
It is free for 100 tasks a month; Professional starts at $29.99 a month for 750 tasks, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, as checked on 30 October 2026.

- Founders who want their apps working together without code or a developer. Pick a trigger and the steps that follow in a guided editor, or let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor act in 9,000+ apps through Zapier MCP.
- Pricing
- FreemiumMid priceFree: 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps that check for new data every 15 minutes and basic access to Agents, Chatbots and Zapier MCP, plus a 14-day Professional trial with no card. Professional is $29.99 a month for 750 tasks, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, and its tiers run to 2 million tasks at $5,099; Team, for up to 25 users, starts at $103.50 a month for 2,000 tasks, or $69 billed yearly, as checked on 30 October 2026. A task is a successful action step: triggers, filters, formatting, Tables and Forms use none, a Zapier MCP call uses 2 and an AI step 1 to 5 by model. Past the limit, extra tasks are billed at 2.5 times the base rate on a monthly plan, up to 3 times the tier, unless you switch pay-per-task off and let Zaps pause until the next cycle. Agents and Chatbots are priced apart, Agents Pro at $400 a year. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the billing cycle.
The IndieHacked breakdown
What it does
Zapier runs Zaps: a trigger in one app, such as a Stripe payment or a form entry, sets off actions in others. You build them step by step in a guided editor that tests each step on a real record from your account, or describe the Zap and Copilot drafts it. Paid plans add multi-step Zaps, filters and paths, webhooks, Code by Zapier steps in JavaScript or Python, and AI steps that extract or write text without your own API key.
Agents and Chatbots sit beside the Zaps as products of their own, each with a free tier: agents take on tasks across your connected apps and the web, and chatbots answer from your docs and FAQs. Zapier MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another AI client run actions in 9,000+ apps without a Zap built first, and the Zapier SDK does the same from code, free while in beta.
Who it suits
Founders who want their tools talking to each other this week: a new signup lands in the CRM and the mailing list, a paid invoice posts to Slack, a form answer becomes a task. Zapier lists 9,000+ apps, and Make's own comparison credits it with the long tail, so a less common tool in your stack has a better chance of a ready connection.
It also fits a founder who works through an AI assistant. Connect Zapier MCP to Claude or ChatGPT and the assistant can send the email, update the sheet or create the invoice in your own accounts, with sign-ins and permissions held by Zapier. Starting costs nothing: 100 tasks a month on the free plan, and a 14-day Professional trial without a card.
Not the right fit for
Founders who run long, branching workflows at high volume on a small budget. Zapier's own comparison grants that Make's canvas is strong for "deeply branching, highly technical workflows," and Make, reviewed here, starts at 10,000 credits for $16 a month against 750 tasks for $29.99 on Professional. Make counts more kinds of step than Zapier does, so price both against your own workflow.
Teams that want several people building on a small plan. Professional has one seat; shared Zaps and shared app connections start on Team, at $103.50 a month billed monthly for up to 25 users, while Make includes unlimited users on every plan, the free one too.
