Postmark
Postmark is an email delivery service for the email your app sends: sign-up confirmations, password resets, receipts and other messages a user triggers, sent through its API or SMTP.
It suits founders who need those emails to arrive quickly and want 45 days of history to see what happened to any one of them.
The free plan sends 100 emails a month and does not expire; paid plans start at $15 a month for 10,000 emails, as checked on 29 October 2026.

- Our take
- Founders whose app sends the email users wait for: sign-up links, password resets, receipts. Postmark keeps that mail apart from marketing, keeps 45 days of history on every message, and gives you free templates for the common ones.
- Pricing
- FreemiumLow price100 emails a month free, with no time limit. Paid plans go by volume: 10,000 emails a month cost $15 on Basic, $16.50 on Pro and $18 on Platform, and 50,000 cost $55, $60.50 and $66, as checked on 29 October 2026. Extra emails are $1.20 to $1.80 per 1,000 and cannot be capped. There is nothing between 100 and 10,000 emails, no yearly billing, and Basic leaves out inbound email.
The IndieHacked breakdown
What it does
Postmark sends the email your app triggers, through a REST API or SMTP, with official libraries for Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP, .NET and Java among others. Transactional and broadcast mail go out on separate message streams and separate IP ranges, and hard bounces and spam complaints are suppressed automatically.
Every message keeps its full content and events for 45 days, and webhooks report deliveries, bounces, opens and clicks to your app. Templates are edited in Postmark with shared layouts, and its open-source set covers welcome, password reset, receipt, invoice and trial emails under the MIT licence. Pro and above parse incoming mail and post it to your app as JSON.
Who it suits
Founders whose product sends email that users wait for: a sign-in link, a password reset, a receipt. The 45-day history shows whether a message was delivered, bounced or opened when a customer says it never arrived. Each new account is reviewed by hand before it can send to outside addresses, usually within 24 hours on weekdays.
The first paid plan fits a small SaaS: 10,000 emails for $15 a month. Founders who charge for their product and have taken no outside investment can ask support for $75 of account credit. An official MCP server and Postmark Skills let Claude Code or Cursor send, search messages and check delivery for you.
Not the right fit for
Founders who want to run their newsletter and marketing from the same tool. Postmark has broadcast streams but no list uploads, visual editor or campaign reports, and for marketing it says other tools "may be a better fit for you than Postmark." Its terms bar affiliate marketing and bought lists outright.
Founders who need their data kept in the EU, HIPAA compliance, or a cheap step between free and $15. Postmark's servers are in the US, with standard contractual clauses for EU data, and it is not HIPAA compliant. The free plan stops at 100 emails a month, and extra emails on a paid plan cannot be capped.
