Cloudflare Registrar

Cloudflare Registrar is a domain registrar that charges what the registry and ICANN charge Cloudflare, with no markup on registration, transfer or renewal.

It suits founders who want the renewal to cost what the first year did, and those who already run their site through Cloudflare.

A .com is $10.46 a year to register and the same to renew, as checked on 30 October 2026.

What it does
Register, renew and transfer domains at the price the registry charges, with DNS, DNSSEC and WHOIS redaction included.
Our take
Founders who want to pay the registry's price every year, renewals included. DNS, SSL and one-click DNSSEC come with each domain, so a site already running through Cloudflare needs no second provider for its name.
Pricing
PaidLow priceA .com is $10.46 a year to register and to renew. A .io is $32 the first year, then $50; a .ai is $160 to register, then $80 a year; a .co is $30 a year; a .dev is $8.20 the first year, then $12.20, as checked on 30 October 2026 in Cloudflare's public domain search. Cloudflare says its prices are at or below what registries and ICANN charge it. A transfer in is charged as one year at cost and adds that year to the registration. Registrations, renewals and transfers are not refunded.

The IndieHacked breakdown

What it does

Cloudflare Registrar registers, renews and transfers in more than 400 extensions, .com, .ai, .app and .dev among them, at what the registry and ICANN charge, with no markup. Each domain comes with WHOIS redaction where the registry allows it, free one-click DNSSEC, and Cloudflare's DNS, CDN and SSL, and is locked against transfers by default.

You search and buy in the Cloudflare dashboard, or through the Registrar API, in beta, which Cloudflare also offers through its MCP server, so an agent can check a name's price and register it. Mail sent to the domain can be forwarded to the inbox you already use with Cloudflare's Email Routing, on the free plan.

Who it suits

Founders who will hold the domain for years. A .com renews at $10.46, the price of its first year, and since Cloudflare passes registry prices on without a markup, the renewal moves only when the registry's price does.

It fits best when the product already runs through Cloudflare, or will: the domain sits in the same dashboard as its DNS, SSL and security settings, and an agent connected to Cloudflare's MCP server can check and register the next name for you.

Not the right fit for

Founders who want their DNS somewhere else, with their host or another provider. Domains on Cloudflare Registrar use Cloudflare's nameservers, and Cloudflare's docs say that to use others you move the domain to another registrar, such as Namecheap, reviewed here.

Founders who want a name with accented letters, or a mailbox bought with the domain. Cloudflare Registrar does not support internationalized domain names such as ones with å, ü or ç. Email Routing forwards incoming mail, and Cloudflare's Email Sending, in beta on the paid Workers plan, is for transactional mail such as order confirmations, so a mailbox for your team comes from another provider.
